We had our first full day on the ship and I don’t think that
between the 20 of us we missed any activities offered onboard!! Nor did we miss any meals!
Most people slept well last night in spite of the fact that
the seas were quite rough and we learned from the Captain today that the winds reached
near hurricane levels! Poor Del had a
lousy night because the bumps of the waves made her think of an
earthquake! When she mentioned this I
reminded her you can’t feel earthquakes at sea and I hope that reassures her a
bit. She’s had a hard time with all the
deadly quakes in New Zealand!
Most everyone else slept well and we awoke this morning to
calming seas and not as much wind. We
had a bit of sunshine today although it is a bit too brisk to spend a great
amount of time outside.
We made it to two trivia’s today but still haven’t made the
winner’s circle……tomorrow is another day!
This next story is for the “just when you thought you’d seen
everything” category. I was in the
casino this evening heading for a favorite penny machine and I see that it is
occupied by a woman with no arms….using her feet to push the buttons and SMOKE
with her toes!!! I’m not sure whether to
congratulate her for her incredible versatility or admonish her for putting
“feet” all over! So, naturally, I said
nothing and marveled at the way she stubbed out the ciggie without burning her
toes!!!
The kids have all had a good day and they love the freedom
of “exploring” the ship! They’ve decided
that one of the kids clubs is not such a bad place and will choose the times
they go so they can take part in the “fun” stuff. Not just the carpet and a video game!!
It was formal night this evening and you haven’t lived till
you’ve seen a 4-year old in a tuxedo!
Talk about stealing the show!!
All our boys and men were in tux’s and they looked spectacular!! The girls and ladies were gorgeous! We had some pictures taken and I hope we took
enough to have some choices. We’ll do
another session in a couple of days wearing our matching T-shirts.
At dinner this evening the Commodore and I were presented
the most wonderful gift from the family!
They commissioned an artist to create a beautiful stained glass portrait
of the bow of a ship sailing through Alaska waters. The ship even has the “Princess” logo
flag! It is jaw-dropping beautiful and I
can’t wait to hang it in a place of honor at home. We were both overcome by their creative and
lovely gift. We are truly blessed.
I’m wearing out for the day and it’s nearing 11 pm. Time to shut down and get ready for Victoria,
B.C. tomorrow.
XOXOXOX
